How to Test the Voucher Authentication Method

This article operates under the assumption that a captive portal is already set-up, and the Voucher Authentication Method has been configured. If this step has not already been completed, please refer to this article for assistance.

Authentication Methods

 

Once you have completed setup of your captive portal, you will need to create a voucher.

1. Navigate to Users -> Vouchers -> Click New Voucher
2. A new window will open. Fill out the desired information for a new voucher. If you are unsure what a fields function is, hover over the grey circle question mark next to the field title for an explanation.
3. Click Generate Vouchers. A new window will open displaying the voucher you just created. Copy it for use later. Click cancel.
4. Addtionally, the voucher you created will be displayed on the vouchers page. More on this later.

Now that you have created a Voucher Code, we need to test it.

1. Open your splash page via the captive portal page. Scroll down to the Portal Settings header, and under the sub header Splash Page URL, click the link. 
2. On this page, enter the voucher code you created. Click the check box to Agree with Terms of Service..
3. Click Register. You will then be shown a success page stating "You are online."
4. Back in the IronWiFi console, on the left page navigate to users -> vouchers.
5. Next to the voucher code you just entered, you should see a date and time under the LAST SEEN column. This  should match when you entered the voucher code.
